Coffee & Worship in Michigan

What would it be like to have to drive 2 hours to get to church?  Would you make it every Sunday? Now, add 5 feet of snow to your drive.  Would you be in the pew?  That drive is what faced many Lutheran’s in St. Ignace, MI.  It was that drive, or meeting in a local hotel conference room.

Lowering the Infant Mortality Rate in Detroit 1 Baby at a Time

"But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. "  Isaiah 64:8

The City of Detroit and the State of Michigan have significantly higher infant mortality rates than the nation as a whole (19.9 per 1,000 live births compared to a national average of 6.6). One of the contributing causes to the high infant mortality rate is the lack of prenatal instruction and care in underserved communities.  Answering this need is The Luke Project 52 Clinic

My Name is B.

OUTREACH REPORT-Elli's House 313
"We saw another young girl walking on the side streets. When we approached her, she immediately put her hands up, and said she didn't want anything from us. She appeared very nervous and was always looking over her shoulder. A man pulled up in a vehicle, beeped at her, and she immediately left our vehicle. About 10 minutes later, she saw us driving, and waved us down. She told us she could take the food now. We gave her a coat, food, and hygiene items. I asked what her name was, and she wouldn't tell me. When we drove away, I told her "Jesus loves you." She looked back at us and said, "My name is B."

A Big Goal for New Start-Ups

As the culture grows farther and farther away from the established church in America, more and more communities find themselves with little to no sign of the presence of Jesus.

At FiveTwo Network, we invest in men and women entrepreneurs who want to connect more people to Jesus and His local church through the launching of new start-ups.  Women and men Christian leaders who are starting new expressions of the Gospel.

These leaders are wired to start.  They start businesses, non-profits, book clubs, and sports leagues.  They start homeless shelters, prenatal clinics and pet clinics.  They re-start 70-year-old congregations to focus on young families and re-plant former multi-sites into stand-alone ministries.

Five Q’s To Begin To Discover Your Unique Christian Identity

Five Q’s To Begin To Discover Your Unique Christian Identity

Just how different are the answers to these two questions: Who are you? And, What do you do?

Think about that for a minute. What’s really the difference?

While one speaks to your nature, the reality is that when you know your identity, what you do flows more easily and naturally. And if you know Jesus, well, you are who you are because of Jesus. And you do what you do because of Jesus.

Do you know the specific What you should be doing that flows from the Who you are?  Do you know your unique Jesus identity?

Easter Courage

Courage is a limited commodity. Limited in the sense that one doesn’t see it in wide use.

As others have said, courage is not the absence of fear but rather action in the face of fear.

Have you ever considered where courage comes from?

'No More Fear' Week

…and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. – Hebrews 2:15

Happy Holy Week.

Holy Week is the annual week when Christians remember Jesus’ walk from the Upper Room, through the Garden of Gethsemane, to the mount of Golgotha and, then, from the Tomb to a dusty road and a locked room.

It is a walk from Passover to Crucifixion to Resurrection. A meal. A funeral. A party. From life to death to life again.

Behind it all? God’s desire to free us from death and the slavery it brings.

Embracing the Cross In the Midst of a Failure

When a Christian entrepreneur wades through the pains of failure, they are led to a deeper understanding of the cross. When everything falls apart, the Chrisitan entrepreneur clings to the only thing they’ve got left, the person and work of Jesus. In the moments where you are brought to your knees in the face of your own failure, the cross stops being just something you read about and becomes a part of your redemption story.

Bookkeeping in a Non-Profit Setting

When we think of Christian entrepreneurs going forth and achieving great things for God's Kingdom, bookkeeping is probably not the first thing that comes to mind.  However, it doesn't take long for a leader to discover how important it is to have reliable, accurate financial information to be a good steward of what God has provided.

To Register Your Trademark or Not to Register Your Trademark, That is the Question!

To Register Your Trademark or Not to Register Your Trademark, That is the Question!

I spoke to an intellectual property lawyer this morning who offered to answer my gigantic amount of questions.  Her name is Kristen and she is in Michigan. If you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and trustworthy, she is your lawyer.  Send me a note and I’ll send you her information.

I had many questions, however, my first was regarding trademarks.  So confusing!  Do I trademark our logos?  Do I not trademark our logos? (A registered trademark gives it the little R in the circle by the name and registers with the government).

Here is what Kristen told me.
